On 13th August 1915 sublieutenant Oswald Boelcke piloting Fokker E.I downed his first rival. Boelcke died on 28th October 1916, he collided with another German aircraft during a battle with Great Britain. Boelcke downed 40 hostile aircrafts.
On 12th August 1915 Short Type 184 aircraft piloted by Charles Edmonds took off off HMS ship ‘Ben-my-Chree’ and attacked Turkish ship ‘Scham’ on the Aegean Sea. The torpedo wrecked the ship that was immobilized by the British submersible E14. It was the first successful torpedo attack from the air.
