On 24th August 1940 Polish pilot Antoni Głowacki (Nr. 501 Fighting Division RAF) managed to down 5 German aircrafts (three ME-109 aircraft and two Ju-88). On 23rd August 1919 during demonstration flight observed by Józef Piłsudski aircraft CWL SK-1 fell into pieces. In the crash died two-men crew of the aircraft – sublieutenant Kazimierz Jesionowski and plane constructor lieutenant Karol Słowik.

On 22nd August 1922 was made a first flight of an American aircraft Aeromarine PG-1. It was supposed to be pursuit fighter and close reinforcement aircraft. During tests there were found piloting malfunctions and the aircraft and never went to serial production. There were produced only three of those aircrafts.

On 21st August 1918 German fighting ace Erst Udet downed two hostile aircrafts (S.E.5a i Sopwitch Camel) and gained his 57th and 58th aerial victories. Till the end of the World War I he managed to gain 62 victories which gave him second position of German aerial aces, after Manfred von Richthofen.
