Today in aviation history – 26th August

On 26th August died Charles Augustus Lindberg – an American aviation pioneer. Lindbergh was born in February 1902. He became famous after flying from North America to Europe without landing. It took place in 1927. During World War II he took part in US Air Force raids on Japanese positions on the Pacific Ocean. Lindberg had few honorary PhD degrees of many universities e.g. University of Illonois.
