On 10th May 1789 the first air balloon flight was carried out in Poland. It was conducted by Jean Pierre François Blanchard, a French inventor and aerostation pioneer. The flight took about 49 minutes and it was Blanchard’s 34th successful flight. A witness to this event was a Polish monarch – Stanisław August Poniatowski.

On 7th March 1984 was made a test flight of Pilatus PC-9. It was a Swiss training aircraft produced by Swiss enterprise Pilatus Aircraft. Nowadays there is produced more advanced version of this aircraft PC-9M, it is in service since 1994.
On 6th May 1937 a German airship LZ 129 Hindenburg burned down. Along with LZ 130 Graf Zeppelin II it was the biggest airship in the world. The route included Warsaw, Beograd, Athens, Cairo, Khartoum, Kisumu, Abercon, Elisabethville, Luebo, Léopoldville, Lagos, Abidjan, Bamako, Dakar, Port Etienne, Agadir, Villa Cisneros, Alicante and Paris.
