Today in aviation history – 26th May

On 26th May 1895 was born colonel Władysław Oleksik. He fought in World War I in Brigade I of Polish Legions. During Polish-Soviet War he was an officer of II Polish Legions. In 1926 he finished pilot course. After that he served in III Aviation Regiment in Poznań and IV Aviation Regiment in Toruń. In 1937 he was moved to aviation battalion in Świecie where he was a commandor. In September 1939 during an attempt to get to Romania Oleksik was captured and on 9th April 1940 sent to Katyn.
