Today in aviation history – 25th May

On 25th May 1917 died René Dorme – French World War I fighter ace. Dorme was born in January 1894. He joined French army in 1913. At the beginning he served in artillery in Tunisia, and in 1915 he was moved to air forces. Dorme gained 23 aerial victories. He was downed by German fighter ace – Heinrich Kroll.
