Bahrain Airport Company Participates in Global Aviation Conference and Exhibition

Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the managing body and operator of Bahrain International Airport (BIA), recently participated in the 2014 ACI World Asia-Pacific Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition (ACI WAGA 2014), held in Seoul, Korea earlier this month. BAC’s Vice President of Human Resource, Hind Mahmood, who is an active member of the ACI Human Resource Committee, represented BAC at the Human Resources Forum and was accompanied by William Adshead, BAC’s Head of Health and Safety who is also a member of the ACI Safety Committee and took part in the Safety Forum.

WAGA is a global event for the aviation industry and provides a platform for key aviation experts and industry leaders to share their knowledge and expertise on a series of important issues such as Human Resources and Health and Safety, through dynamic presentations, forums and symposiums. An exhibition featuring new products, services, technologies and equipment catering to the world’s airports was also running alongside the WAGA conference event.

According to Hind Mahmood, BAC’s VP of Human Resources, “BAC has always been committed to providing a friendly and efficient working culture and providing its workforce with training and development opportunities for career growth. I am delighted to have attended the Human Resources Committee meeting and to have represented Bahrain and BAC in this global event; the conference provided a great learning experience as we were give the opportunity to liaise with our international counterparts and get updated on the alignment of HR to their overall company vision and what new HR practices and training and development strategies they have been adopting to further enhance the efforts of their employees – we aim to apply these findings to BAC for the benefit of our staff”.

WAGA is considered a vital event in providing the aviation industry with essential updates and know-how on new trends, technologies and internal processes and procedures that can enhance the operational performance of an airport and its workforce.

William Adshead, BAC’s Head of Health and Safety, stated “BAC is keen on enforcing health and safety processes that surpass expectations and ensure operational excellence and employee satisfaction. It is a sincere privilege to attend WAGA as an active member of the Safety committee and be able to share with my fellow colleagues, new ways to improve our safety processes and procedures for the overall benefit of BAC.”

BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing BIA and increasing the airport’s contribution to the local economy in line with Vision 2030.  In its operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s operations, infrastructure and services. This is set to improve BIA’s capabilities and cater to the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of stakeholders.
