They’re warm, sweet and simply delicious – that’s why the raisin rolls that were introduced on airberlin flights this summer have become a firm favourite with passengers after just a few months. In a survey conducted on facebook.com/airberlin, the majority of airberlin fans said that they preferred this sweet snack to a pretzel breadstick for breakfast.
The sweet bread roll has been included since June of this year among the free breakfast options available on airberlin’s domestic and European city services and is offered as an alternative to the pretzel up until 10 am. Both snacks are heated for a short time by the cabin crew before serving and are then offered with a hot or cold drink.
“We didn’t expect our raisin rolls to be such a big success, but it seems as if these sweet little balls of dough hit exactly the right spot for our guests,” says Thomas Ney, Senior Vice President Guest Experience airberlin, savouring the sweet success of the raisin roll. “Especially guests who have not experienced airberlin’s service before are very pleasantly surprised to find an airline that looks after the creature comforts of its guests even on relatively short flights by offering a selection of hot snacks and drinks, free of charge.”

Depending on the duration of the flight, airberlin offers its guests a snack, a sandwich or a hot or cold meal, together with a selection of hot and cold alcohol-free drinks. On domestic and long-haul flights,
a selection of alcoholic beverages is also available free of charge. And last but not least, there’s the ever-popular airberlin Rausch chocolate heart that is handed out by the cabin crew to say good-bye to guests as they leave the aircraft. Furthermore, “Sansibar” gourmet menus can be pre-ordered for short- and medium-haul flights lasting more than 60 minutes. Where flights last over 90 minutes on these routes, airberlin also offers a slightly reduced selection of Sansibar gourmet dishes for last-minute diners. This means that airberlin is still Germany’s only airline where you can purchase hot food on board short- and medium-haul flights without pre-ordering.
