On 7th September an English fighter pilot Andrew Beauchamp-Proctor gained his 44th aerial victory. On this day near Cambrai-St. Quentin he destroyed observation balloon. During World War I Beauchamp-Proctor managed to gain 54 aerial victories.

On 4th September 1939 corporal Micel and Cander from No. 51 reconaissance squadron flying PZL-23 Karaś bombed German transportation near Biała Piska. Their plane was damaged, but they managed to go back to the airport.

On 3rd September 1972 was established a new highschool for pilots in Dęblin named after Franciszek Żwirko and Stanisław Wigura. Nowadays it is the only Polish highschool preparing candidates for Polish Air Force Academy. Educational activities focus mainly on theoretical and practical background for serving in air force.

On 2nd September 1998 occured a plane crash of the flight Swissair 111. near Nova Scotia at 10:31 p.m. (McDonnell Doouglas MD-11). In the crash died 215 passengers and 14 staff members. The crash was caused by the fire that started because of the faulty wiring.
