Today in aviation history – 6th September

On 6th September 1911 in Łódź was born a Polish sports and air force pilot, engineer, patriotic and social activist – Jerzy Damsz. He graduated from a private junior high and highscool in Łódź. In 1929 he started studying and also took a gliding course in aero club in Warsaw. Then he graduated from Polish Air Force Academy in Dęblin. During World War II he was a pilot in No. 307 fighting division. He was ordered with Silver Cross War Order of Virtutti Millitari and three Crosses of Valour. Damsz died in Sopot in June 1987.
