On 29th March 1960 there was made a test flight of Tu-124. It was a Soviet 2-engine passenger aircraft. Tu-124 was a modification of another aircraft Tu-104. Except for USSR the aircraft was also used by Czechoslovakia, GDR and Iraq. Eventually the aircraft was withdrew in 1991.
On 28th March 1988 there was carried out the first commercial flight of a passenger aircraft Airbus A320. Air France was the first airline to have used this aircraft. A320 can carry 180 passengers. It is still produced and used until today by US Airways, easyJet, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, United Airlines, Lufthansa, British Airways, AirAsia, Wizz Air.
On 27th March 1918 took place an aerial fight between German fighter triplanes Fokker Dr.I and surveillance aircrafts Armstrong Whitworth F.K.8 from No. 2 Squadron Royal Flying Corps. On 26th March 1938 Arthur Clouston and Victor Ricketts ended their flight from England to New Zeland (back and forth). The flight took 10 days and 21 hours. No one has ever before put such long distance in such little amount of time.
On 25th March 1921 Hans Guido Mutke was born in Nysa. During World War II he served in night fighter unit Messerschmitt Bf 110, and in March 1945 he was moved to EJG 2 (III./EJG 2). He flew there on Me-262 and was the first person to break the sound barrier on this aircraft.
On 24th March 1918 a British pilot John Lightfoot Trollope downed 7 German planes in one day. Four days later he downed another 3 hostile aircrafts. The British pilot managed to down 18 aircrafts before he was downed by the German ace Paul Bilik. Badly injured Trollope was taken prisoner by Germans
