The world’s air traffic management system infrastructure is modernizing, requiring all participants to remain at the forefront of technological developments. To address emerging industry requirements, Schneider Electric is releasing the MetConsole 3 Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) – an aviation weather data management platform — enabling safe flight operations by providing critical real-time, accurate meteorological observations. Restructured with several new updates MetConsole 3 AWOS is now more user-friendly and technologically advanced.
The upgraded AWOS solution continues to provide complete ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) compliance while delivering the timely, mission critical weather information the industry expects from Schneider Electric given its leading position in the global weather industry. Additional enhancements include availability of web-based interfaces modifiable in “run time” relieving the need for software programing support.
As a software-centric aviation weather data management solution, MetConsole 3 AWOS is sensor independent, fully compatible with any manufacturer’s sensors, and thus a cost effective solution. Furthermore, Schneider Electric recognizes that while global aviation weather management standards exist, many countries have localized specific requirements. The MetConsole 3 platform was designed to enable customization to meet these specific customer requirements.
The solution is part of the MetConsole 3 suite, a fully integrated set of advanced weather observation solutions for airports of any size. In addition to the AWOS platform, the suite includes solutions which can be implemented individually or in combination to provide scalable aviation weather data management solutions for a full range of operational requirements. In this time of rapid technological change, aviation weather data users need an integrated weather information platform that will remain flexible and adaptable during the expected lifetime of an airport weather observation system.
