Today in aviation history – 2nd November

On 2nd November 1890 in Lviv was born Eugeniusz Roland. He was an officer of artillery, and then served in aviation in Austro-Hungarian. Since 6th November 1918 he fought in Polish aviation in Lviv supporting land army in war against the Ukraine. At the end of January 1919 he became a commander of No. 6 aviation squadron. During the interwar period he served in aviation industry and transportation aviation. He served in Polish Air Force in Great Britain. After the World War II ended he went back to Poland and worked for Polish Airlines LOT. In the Stalinist period he was convicted and imprisoned. After rehabilitation he moved to Vienna where he died on 17th January 1971.
