On 31st October 1956 on North Pole for the first time landed an aircraft. It was Douglas R4D-5 Skytrain flown by seven men crew commanded by American vice admiral George`a J. Dufek.
On 31st October 2009 crashed a helicopter PZL Kania – side number SN-26XG. The helicopter was on a patrol flight along the Belarus border. The crash was caused by pilot’s mistake, infringement of aerial regulations and bad conditions during a flight. In the crash died 3 officers of border guards: pilot, navigator and operator.
