Today in aviation history – 27th October

On 27th October 1931 in Dęblin was made a test flight of a first Polish stunt glider NN-1. The glider was constructed by Adam Nowotny and Jarosław Naleszkiewicz. The flight was carried out by Franciszek Jach, Polish military aviator and glider.
On 27th October 1962 major Rudolf Anderson was downed. He was born on 15th September 1927. Anderson was on reconnaissance mission during Cuban missile crisis in U-2 aircraft. Anderson is the only person who died in fire exchange between USSR and USA in this crisis.
