Today in aviation history – 3rd October

On 3rd October 1948 during the World Air Sports Federation (FAI) in Paris Włodzimierz Humen who was a Polish representative was chosen to be a vice president of the federation. Humen was a member of a Warsaw Aero Club.
On 3rd October 1996 near Pasamayo (Peru) in the Pacific Ocean crashed Aeroperú’s Boeing 757-200 (flight number 603). The plane crashed because of false information considering speed and height. 61 passengers and 9 staff members died
