In August 2014, airberlin transported 3,472,836 passengers, an increase of 2.7 percent over the corresponding month of the previous year. The revenue passenger kilometers (RPK) within airberlin’s worldwide flight route network increased by 3 percent, to 5.4 billion.
The available seat kilometers (ASK) for August increased by 1.5 percent in monthly comparison, to just over 6 billion. The expansion of the flights on offer was well accepted and resulted in a very high capacity utilization rate of 89.31 percent, i.e. an increase of 1.3 percentage points over the corresponding month of the previous year.
For the first eight months of the year, the number of passengers amounted to 21,460,581, slightly more than the level reached in the previous year (+0.3 percent). The revenue passenger kilometers for the January to August period increased to 33.192 billion (previous year: 32.947 billion); the available seat kilometers increased to 39.653 billion (previous year: 38.596 billion).
