Live fire shootings of the Artillery-rocket Units for Air Defence

The Artillery-rocket Units for Air Defence, armed with anti-aircraft cannons 40mm L-70 “Bofors”, performed today detachment live fire shooting at ground targets and shooting at air targets.

Lieutenant General Jovica Draganic, Deputy Head of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Serbia, visited the units performing the shootings at the mixed shooting ground “Pasuljanske Livade”.

Live fire shootings at ground and air targets followed after the 10-day preparations, training and control-training shootings at the Batajnica Air Base.

Their skillfulness in operating the “Bofors” was shown by members of the 98th and 177th Artillery-rocket Units for Air Defence from Air Force and Air Defence Brigades, members of the 25th and 35th Artillery-rocket Divisions from the Army, and members of the Air Force and Air Defence Training Center.

– The live fire shooting at air targets that we have witnessed today represents a pinnacle of combat training of Artillery-rocket Units for Air Defence, when, in just a few minutes of live fire, everything you have done in your classrooms, training courses and grounds before the live firing was encompassed – General Draganic told the senior personnel and soldiers at the mixed shooting ground “Pasuljanske Livade”.

– Great results that you have accomplished should not distract you, because the shooting was performed with already known parameters of the target’s course, and the realistic situation in the battlefield, in combat situation, is far more complex. This is why it is highly important that, in the following period, aside from the excellent fire capability you possess, you continue with tactical training of platoons and batteries – General Draganic pointed out.

The shooting was also attended by Major General Goran Zekovic, Head of the General Staff Department for Training and Doctrine, Major General Miodrag Gordic, Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, General Zarko Lazarevic, Head of Staff of the Army, Brigadier General Stanko Vasiljevic, Head of Staff of the Training Command, and Brigadier General Zelimir Glisovic, Commander of the 3rd Army Brigade.
