Today in aviation history – 8th June

On 8th June 1887 was born Wiktor Komorowski – Polish soldier, pilot of the Second Polish Republic, fighting ace from I World War period. In 1914-1916 Komorowski fought in Russian air forces. At the time he downed 6 aircrafts. Since 1917 Komorowski served in I Polish Corps along with general Józef Dowbor-Muśnicki, in 1919 he joined the Polish Army. Komorowski served in independent Poland as a commander of a No. 4 aviation squadron, he was also involved in aerial education. He spent II World War on interning in Romania. After coming back to Poland he was arrested. He died in 1952 in unexplained circumstances.
