On 5th June 1969 Tu-144 was the first passenger airplane that broke the sound barrier. Tu-144 was a Soviet hypersonic passenger airplane constructed by Andrei Nikolayevich Tupolev’s construction office. A test flight was made on December 1968. Except for breaking the sound barrier Tu-144 was also the first commercial transporter that reached speech over 1 Ma.
