Today in aviation history – 14th March

On 14th March 1893 a Polish pilot, engineer and aircraft constructor – Jerzy Rudlicki was born. Before the World War I Rudlicki flew on gliders. During the war he served in Russian and French air forces. After the war was over Rudlicki became a constructor in the first Polish aerospace manufacturer Plage and Laśkiewicz in Lublin. Under his direction the company produced many types of planes, for instance surveillance aircfrafts: Lublin R VIII, R X and R XII. In the late 30’s Rudlicki moved to the United States where he still worked as a constructor. He died in August 1977.
