airberlin is the official airline partner of the DÜSSEL-CUP 2014

The gay and lesbian multi-sport tournament, the DÜSSEL-CUP, will be held in Dusseldorf from 11th until 13th April 2014. This year, airberlin is sponsoring the event for the first time. Around 1,000 athletes from all over Germany and Europe will come together to compete in 10 sporting disciplines. In addition to established sports such as volleyball, football and badminton, the 2014 agenda will also include roller derby. airberlin is offering special conditions to competitors enabling them to fly to the tournament quickly and conveniently. A free baggage allowance of up to 23kg on airberlin flights is included in the FlyClassic and FlyFlex fares. For those travelling with additional sports baggage, the topbonus Service Card is well worthwhile as this entitles holders to one free piece of sports baggage.

“airberlin employs people from 70 countries ; people of all ages, religions, cultures and sexual orientations. We reflect the diversity of the world population within airberlin and also pursue this in relation to our guests, for example through target-group-specific offers such as our commitment to the DÜSSEL-CUP 2014,” commented Dr Martina Niemann, airberlin Chief Resources Officer.

With airberlin’s support, the DÜSSEL-CUP is able to clearly develop its outreach program. Outreach is financed by donations and enables (principally European) homosexual athletes whose sexual orientation means that they are subjected to persecution and penalties in their own countries to actively participate in the DÜSSEL-CUP.
