On 10th January 1941 German aircrafts took part in Mediterranean hostilities. Dive bombers Ju 87 Stuka and horizontal bombers Ju 88 from 10th Air Corps (X Fliegerkorps) were used in raid on British military supply convoy to Malta. The attacks of Italian air force didn’t produce substantial effects, but German bombers hit aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious 6 times and withdrew it from hostilities until November.
