Today in aviation history – 5th January

On 5th January 1941 died Amy Johnson. She was born on 1st July 1903 and was the first woman who acquired qualifications of an aircraft mechanic. Her most famous achievement was flight from England to Australia and she did it (as the first woman) in 1930. She died flying in Air Transport Auxiliary.
