Today in aviation history – 18th December

On 18th December 1970 the Airbus Industry international consortium was officially established. The enterprise was created by France’s Aerospatiale and Deutsche Airbus: Messerschmittwerke, Hamburger Flugzeugbau, VFW GmbHoraz Siebelwerke ATG. Spanish enterprise Construcciones Aeronauticas SA joined them few years later. Currently the Airbus has its branches in Germany, France, Great Britain, Spain and China and subsidiaries in USA, Japan, India and China. The Airbus employs about 57,000 people.
