Today in aviation history – 10th December

On 10th December 1941 a battle took place near Kuantan on The South China Sea. In the fight British fleet used HMS Prince of Wales liner, HMS Repulse battlecruiser and four destroyers but in the end they lost to Japanese aircrafts. The Japanese used 96 aircrafts that sunk both of British ships. This defeat limited actions of Royal Navy on Pacific Ocean and along with Pearl Harbor battle also proved significance of aviation in operations at sea.
