Lufthansa is expanding the capacity of its route network. In its flight timetable for summer 2014 the airline will again be offering direct flights to Jakarta. Lufthansa is also running a special offer for all Indonesia enthusiasts: Return flights from Frankfurt to Jakarta can be booked between now and 3 December 2013 for as little as EUR 699 on www.lufthansa.com. The offer applies to the travel period from 30 March to 31 May 2014. Until now, passengers could travel four times a week to Kuala Lumpur with a stopover in Bangkok. In future the flight to the Malaysian capital will be without a stopover. From 30 March 2014, Lufthansa is offering five weekly non-stop flights Thursdays to Mondays. After a short stop, flight LH 782 will continue to Jakarta. First, Business and Economy Class seats will be available on board an Airbus A340-600 aircraft. The flight times have been optimally coordinated to fit in with the global Lufthansa network. Until late 2012, Jakarta was flown from Munich via Singapore. “We are delighted to be offering our passengers direct flights to Jakarta again and even more flights to Kuala Lumpur. Indonesia and Malaysia are important countries for business and leisure travel and we are confident that our customers will appreciate the new travel opportunities to south-east Asia and enjoy using them,” said Kay Kratky, Member of the Lufthansa German Airlines Board for Operations & Hub Frankfurt. “We will be offering 127 weekly flights to 22 destinations in Asia in future.” Indonesia is the fourth most populous country on Earth. Its capital Jakarta has some 28 million inhabitants, making it the biggest metropolitan region in south-east Asia and an important traffic hub. Jakarta is the banking centre of the country and a major centre for the food and beverage industry as well as the textile and leather industries. The city on Java’s north-west coast is also a popular destination for tourists from all over the world, who come to enjoy the beauty and cultural diversity of the many Indonesian islands.
