New Commercial Aircraft Maintenance Agreement Expands BAE Systems’ Presence in Asia

BAE Systems has signed a comprehensive agreement with Japan Airlines (JAL) to provide maintenance support for the carrier’s commercial aircraft fleet. Under the agreement, BAE Systems will provide repairs, spares, and modifications to the aircraft electronics of JAL’s Boeing 737-800, 767, and 777 planes.

“BAE Systems’ continued emphasis on customer service is validated by this win,” said Dr. Ehtisham Siddiqui, vice president and general manager of Commercial Aircraft Solutions at BAE Systems. “We will capitalize on our more than 25 years of experience in aircraft maintenance to provide unsurpassed support and value to JAL.”

The agreement will enable JAL to maintain its fleet of 737-800, 767, and 777 airplanes at a more predictable cost over the three-year term of the agreement. BAE Systems will provide JAL with maintenance support at its two-time Boeing Gold Performance Excellence Award-winning Singapore Service Center, and from its Commercial Aircraft Solutions facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

BAE Systems has a proven record of supplying high-integrity flight and engine controls and a broad range of cockpit and cabin electronics for the maintenance, repair, and overhaul market. The company’s support business offers valuable services that decrease costs for its global customers, including many Asian carriers.
