High-tech group OHB SE (Prime Standard, ISIN DE0005936124) is broadening its footprint in applications and services with the establishment of a subsidiary known as M2M Europe Network & Solutions GmbH in Bregenz, Austria. The new company specializes in satellite communications and, within this area, specifically fields offering particular potential for the future such as M2M (machine-to-machine communications) and IOT (“Internet of Things”).
Explains Marco Fuchs, CEO of OHB SE: “Looking forward, OHB will be more active than before in applications and services. Our existing Orbcomm products give us a very good starting position for this.”
M2M Europe Network & Solutions GmbH will be able to harness the experience of OHB SE and its investments in Orbcomm Inc. (Orbcomm Germany and Orbcomm Europe) as well as OHB Logistics Solutions GmbH. M2M Europe will be integrating the business of Orbcomm Germany and Europe and marketing existing Orbcomm products as well as its own products and services across Europe. These include, for example, truck and cargo tracking and monitoring as well as the monitoring of stationary machinery without a fixed-line Internet connection.
As Jochen Harms, the newly incorporated company’s managing director, stresses: “M2M is one of the world’s fastest growing markets in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. Here in Austria, we are well positioned not least of all thanks to the support of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG), which will allow us to establish a high-growth company.”
