Ramona has been adventure camping in the Black Rock Desert since 1987. Throughout the broadcast Ramona will highlight past trips into the desert and explore interesting story lines while on-site at this remote and fascinating place on Earth. The Black Rock Desert, a dry remnant of Lake Lahontan, is about 100 miles (160 km) north of Reno covering about 300,000 acres of land. The site has been used for land speed records, rocket launches, aerial gunnery range, and special events like the Burning Man Festival.
