Today in aviation history – 21st November

On 21st November 1914 three British aircrafts Avro 504 took off off France and carried out first long-distance bombing raid. The aims of the attack were German Zeppelins near Friederichshafen. Each bomber dropped 20 pounds (9 kg) bombs. The raid was a success – the hydrogen factory was destroyed. During the raid one bomber was lost.
