On 5th November 1918 lieutenant Stefan Bastyr and lieutenant Janusz de Beaurain took off of an airport in Lviv and bombed Ukrainian units. It was the first sortie in the history of Polish aviation. Until 1931 5th Novemeber was celebrated as a Polish aviation day. Then it was moved to 28th August (when Żwirko and Wigura won Challenge ‘32).
