Today in aviation history – 30th September

On 30th September 1943 was made a test flight of Northrop XP-56 Black Bullet. It was an American fighting prototype constructed by Northrop Corporation. The aircraft was known for unusual aerodynamic system. It was a totally metal monoplane. Its weaponry consisted of two 20 mm cannons and four machine guns (12,7 mm), all of which installed on nose of the aircraft.
