Today in aviation history – 29th August

On 29th August 1962 in Nowy Sącz died Jerzy Iszkowski – aerial instructor and pilot of Polish Air Forces. Iszkowski was born in March 1914. After highschool he began national service, and in 1934 he was transferred to the Polish Air Force Academy in Dęblin. During the September Campaign he performed tasks related to evacuation of Polish Air Frorces. He took part in bombing attack in Germany and raids on Cologne, Hamburg, Essen and Bremen. Iszkowski was ordered with Virtuti Militari.
