Wizz Air launches eight new routes from Chopin Airport

Wizz Air is expanding its base at Chopin Airport, adding new flights to its network. At the end of winter/beginning of spring 2015, the airline will launch eight new routes from Warsaw and increase flight frequencies on another eight.

On 17 January 2015, Wizz Air will open two new once-weekly winter flights from Warsaw to Verona and Turin. Starting 29 March, the airline will base its fifth Airbus A320 at the Warsaw airport, making it possible to add six new routes to its network: Dortmund (four flights a week), Larnaca and Lisbon (twice a week), as well as Alicante, Catania and Malta (once a week).

The airline also plans to increase flight frequencies on its most popular Warsaw routes in the summer 2015 season, namely: London-Luton (from 20 to 24 flights a week), Brussels-Charleroi (from 7 to 11), Milan-Bergamo (from 4 to 6), Budapest (from 4 to 6), Paris-Beauvais (from 3 to 4), Eindhoven (from 3 to 4), Glasgow (from to 2 to 3) and Liverpool (from to 2 to 3).

György Abrán, Wizz Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “In just one decade we carried 9 million Warsaw passengers and established the largest low fare route network at the conveniently located Warsaw Chopin Airport. By adding the fifth based aircraft we create more travel opportunities, a greater choice of destinations and more local jobs as well as further stimulate tourism in Poland.”

With the eight new services, Wizz Air will be offering a total of 30 routes to 16 countries from Chopin Airport. Seats on the newest routes, as well as the entire summer 2015 schedule, are already on sale and can be booked from PLN 99 (including taxes and non-optional charges) on wizzair.com.

Radosław Paruzel, Deputy Warsaw Chopin Airport Director said: “We are happy to see that the second largest air carrier at Chopin Airport is expanding its base and route network from Warsaw. Our objective is to offer the widest possible choice to our passengers, so we welcome Wizz Air’s decision to step up its operations. We have a common goal and passengers can only benefit from that.”
