Today in aviation history – 31st July

On 31st July 1944 died Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. He was born on 29th June 1900 in France. He was not only an exquisite writer, but also an aviator. He became civil pilot at the age of 21, and in 1922 military pilot. He was probably downed by Fw-190 flown by Robert Heichelle near Marseilles.
