Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance and Garuda Maintenance Facility AeroAsia (GMF), a leading supplier of MRO services in South East Asia, have signed component maintenance contracts enabling AFI KLM E&M to subcontract component repairs to GMF. These contracts were signed as a next step in the co-operation whereby GMF signed two long term support agreement with AFI KLM E&M last year. One covering component support for 10 777-300ERs and the other for component support of 78 737s operated by Indonesian flag-carrier Garuda Indonesia.
The advantage of sharing mutual expertise
The support services provided by AFI KLM E&M include component repair, access to a spares pool, and the creation and provision of a local main base kit at the client’s facility in Jakarta. The quality and reliability of AFI KLM E&M’s component support offer derives from its long track record with the 777 and 737 products, as well as its long-term Components Services Partnership agreements with Boeing. As 777 launch airline, the AIR FRANCE KLM group has acquired unparalleled experience with, and knowledge of, the components equipping these two aircraft types, enabling it to develop MRO solutions that combine high performance and minimum down time.
The newly signed agreements will allow AFI KLM E&M to start using the growing GMF component repair capabilities not only for certain component repairs related to the support agreements for the Garuda fleet but also for other operators in the region.
Richard Budihadianto Sukadarisman, President and CEO of GMF AeroAsia, said he was „delighted to sign with a leading MRO closely connected to two world-class airlines. We are certain that AFI KLM E&M, with whom we have been building relations in several areas of aircraft maintenance for a number of years, will enjoy our high-quality services. In addition to reinforcing the breadth of our cooperation, these two contracts reflect the great trust and the partnership ties forged between our two groups.”
The signing of this contract further supports the cooperation program between the two groups.
Since a number of years GMF has been using AFI KLM E&M for specific training requirements enabling GMF to extend its services now being a certified repair shop for AFI KLM E&M. Part of this program has included the subcontracting of one KLM 747-400ERF heavy maintenance check to GMF with another such project being discussed at the moment.
