Today in aviation history – 17th April

On 17th Arpil 1907 captain Zygmunt Kruszewicz was born. He was a graduate of the Polish Air Force Academy in Dęblin. He was serving in the I aviation group in Warsaw. He wasn’t assigned to fighting squad. He stayed in Warsaw and took part in defending the city. After Warsaw capitulated, he was taken prisoner and kept in Oflag VI-B in Dossel. He died on 21st March 1945 during a raid on the camp made by allied aircrafts called ‘Lightning’.
