On 6th April 1938 there was made a flight of aircraft Bell XP-39, a prototype of Bell P-39 Airacobra. It was a totally metal low wing powered by twelve-cylider engine Allison V-1710-17. Because of the lack of weaponry the prototype reached fantastic speed at that time of 628 km/h. It was one of the fundamental USAAF fighters at the beginning of II World War.
