The Republic of Turkey is the official partner country for the International Aerospace Exhibition ILA 2014. The country at the crossroads between Europe and Asia is an attractive emerging market for companies in the aerospace industry. The NATO partner Turkey will make its strongest appearance to date at this year’s ILA Berlin Air Show. The Turkish aerospace industry will present itself as a modern, fast-growing and dynamic industry that offers business partners, customers and investors from around the world excellent opportunities for cooperation.
Turkey has consistently taken part in the biennial ILA Berlin Air Show since 2008. The numbers of Turkish exhibitors increased continuously. Industry experts from this year’s partner country always made up a significant proportion of the foreign trade fair guests during this period. Since the introduction of the partner country concept, the previous partner countries at the ILA have been Russia in 2006, India in 2008, Switzerland in 2010 and Poland in 2012.
The ILA Berlin Air Show is organized by the German Aerospace Industries Association (BDLI) and by Messe Berlin GmbH.
Mr. Murad BAYAR, Undersecretary for Defence Industries shows the importance of Turkey: „For the Republic of Turkey, it is an honor and at the same time a pleasure to be the partner country at the ILA Berlin Air Show 2014. This oldest aerospace exhibition in the world with its longstanding tradition not only offers the Turkish industry the opportunity to present their impressive range of services and products, but also provides an excellent opportunity to make business contacts at the same time. Germany has been the most important trading partner of Turkey for many years. I am pleased that many Turkish exhibitors will make an impressive appearance at the ILA, which is one of the most important aerospace exhibitions in the world and so important for our country.”
BDLI President Bernhard Gerwert says: „We are very happy about Turkey’s commitment to become the partner country for the ILA in 2014. Turkey is one of the fastest growing economies in the world and is one of the major growth markets for air transport. Turkish and German as well as European companies have already successfully cooperated on projects in the civil and military aviation industry for some time.” Gerwert further explains: „Turkey is an important strategic partner for our industry, particularly with regard to long-term cooperation.”
The liberalization of the Turkish aviation sector in 2002 marked the beginning of a strong growth period for the Turkish civil aviation market. With an annual growth rate of up to 30%, it significantly exceeded the average worldwide growth rate in air traffic of approximately 5%. The planned construction of the world’s biggest airport in Istanbul is proof of this dynamic development.
