On 19th March 1912 Adolf Galland was born in Westerholt. Since 1937 he fought on He 51 in Spanish civil war. He served in the September Campaigne, West Europe invasion and the Battle of Britain. Galland won 104 aerial victories. He died on 9th February 1996.
