On 21st February 1916 began battle of Verdun. French footsloggers were supported by the World War I ace – Jean Navarre. He was flying above the front line in fighter aircraft covered in French national colours (red, white and blue) performing impressive stunts. Navarre gained sobriquet ‘Verdun’s sentry’.
