Jetstar Japan is officially Japan’s fastest growing airline reaching three million passengers in just 18 months of operation.
It reaches the milestone ahead of both other new domestic low cost carriers and full service carriers in a year that has seen Japan’s domestic passenger air traffic increase for the first time in six years.
Jetstar Japan Chief Executive Officer Miyuki Suzuki said the Japanese aviation market was going through a positive period of growth.
“It is exciting to see the transformational affect low cost carriers are bringing to Japan,” she said.
“Not only is Jetstar Japan growing but we are helping to stimulate overall market growth with record passengers now through ports such as Tokyo (Narita) and Shin Chitose.
“It has not taken long for the Japanese consumer to adopt LCC travel reflective in our growing load factors and thousands of repeat customers,” Ms Suzuki said.
Jetstar Japan currently operates across nine cities in Japan over 13 routes.
On the 10 December 2013, Jetstar Japan welcomed its 10th domestic operation with the start of twice daily flights between Tokyo Narita and Takamatsu in Kagawa Prefecture on the island of Shikoku.
