At Lufthansa, the air is heady with the scents of Advent. Passengers both young and old, at the airport or on board, will be lavished with a range of small gifts to put them in the festive spirit.
Before they even set off, children and teenagers have the opportunity to win lots of different prizes online with the JetFriends Advent calendar. From 1 to 24 December, travel enthusiasts between two and 17 years old can solve exciting puzzles and play online games at www.jetfriends.com. The prizes to be won include hotel stays with breakfast for the whole family, Disney soft toy ‘Planes’ from the film of the same name and complete JetFriends travel sets with a trolley and rucksack.
At the new family check-in desks in Frankfurt and Munich, children will receive a special Christmas edition of the popular cuddly toy boarding cards as a surprise gift. A teddy in festive garb and flying reindeer feature on the boarding card. Shortly before Christmas, Lufthansa mascots Lu and Cosmo will be distributing fruit and sweets to children in front of the check-in desks. In the lounges, young passengers will be given a winter gift bag containing colouring and craft books, coloured pencils, a model aircraft kit and sliding puzzles. In addition, all children flying after 17 December will be given a teddy bear as a Christmas surprise.
And the airline has plenty of special treats in store for adults, too. In the First Class Lounges in Frankfurt and Munich, the festive period will be celebrated in style with typical Christmas fare such as roast duck breast with cranberry sauce, red cabbage and chestnut dumplings, as well as a Christmas market stall with a candy floss machine, a mini doughnut factory, roast chestnuts and biscuits from the in-house bakery.
The First Class Lounge at Lufthansa’s second largest hub in Munich will feature harp music until the middle of December. A member of the Lounge staff will be playing a medley of Christmas melodies and Bavarian parlour music.
580 Advent wreaths will spread pre-Christmas cheer in December on board of every Lufthansa aircraft. On 6 December, St Nicholas’ Day, passengers on European routes will be presented with the popular boots and bags containing gingerbread, fruit and other small surprises.
All in all, flight attendants will be distributing 250,000 bags of biscuits, 85,000 chocolate Santa Clauses and more than 80,000 Christmas chocolates in December.
