SWISS is putting its inflight guests in the festive mood this December with a range of seasonal attractions that extend from traditional Christmas cookies (including freshly-baked ones on long-haul services) to special meals over the Christmas holidays. And the SWISS Advent Calendar at swiss.com features 24 customs from SWISS destinations all over the world, along with contests and prizes, too.
SWISS customers travelling in the run-up to Christmas can look forward to some special seasonal treats. From 4 December onwards, The Airline of Switzerland will be serving clementines as the afternoon snack on its European services, along with traditional Swiss Christmas cookies to go with the coffee. And on St. Nicholas’s Day – 6 December – Business Class travellers can even enjoy mulled wine on selected European flights.
This year also offers a particular Advent highlight in First and Business Class on SWISS’s long-haul routes. For the first time ever, SWISS will be baking Christmas cookies on board and serving them straight out of the oven to its premium guests.
Business Class travellers taking a short-haul flight and all passengers on long-haul services from Zurich on the holidays themselves will also be treated to special Christmas fare. SWISS First customers can look forward to a starter “duo” of cured roe ham and roe terrine with pear-cowberry chutney, while SWISS Business guests will start their meal with salmon in three styles. Turkey breast variations will serve as the main course in all three classes; and the meal will be rounded off with a suitably seasonal dessert.
As a further festive gesture, long-haul SWISS Business travellers will receive a selection of fine Christmas cookies at the end of the flight, while SWISS First guests will be offered selected pralines and truffles from the renowned Sprüngli confectioners. The famed SWISS chocolate hasn’t been forgotten, either: it’s specially decked out in gold for the Advent season, and will be distributed in long-haul Economy Class and on all short-haul flights.
And on New Year’s Eve, SWISS will be offering a glass of champagne to travellers in all seating classes.
Christmas is coming to the SWISS Lounges, too. Festive decorations provide a suitably seasonal mood, while the range of snacks has been extended with the addition of gingerbread, “Grittibänz” bread figures and Swiss Christmas cookies.
Customs and contests with the SWISS Advent Calendar
SWISS is getting into the Christmas mood in the virtual world, too. This year’s SWISS Advent Calendar at swiss.com presents 24 seasonal customs from all over the globe. Each day, visitors can find out about a particular Christmas tradition at one of SWISS’s 76 destinations. And every time they “open a door” they have the chance to win a prize, such as a quality SWISS item or a SWISS voucher worth anything up to CHF 800.
