Russian Helicopters, a subsidiary of Oboronprom, part of Rostec State Corporation, and Almaty Rescue Service have signed a cooperation memorandum to supply multi-role Mi-8AMT and new light Ka-226T helicopters.
„We confirm that we can supply Almaty Rescue Service with the required quantity of helicopters within the time period required,” said Mikhail Dubrovin, Russian Helicopters’ Director of Marketing. „The helicopters will be equipped for everything that Almaty Rescue Service has to deal with.”
The contract to supply the Mi-8AMT to Kazakhstan was announced at the MAKS 2013 air show. Under the terms of the contract, the helicopter will be delivered in 2014. It is planned to be used for rescue and air-ambulance work. The Mi-8AMT is ideal for use in high winds and mountainous terrain, has all the equipment necessary for carrying out rescue operations and is perfectly suited to operations in Almaty. Like other helicopters in the Mi-8/17 series, the Mi-8AMT can be flown in temperatures ranging from +50 to -50 degrees Celsius and can be stored outdoors.
With demand for light, multi-role helicopters increasing, Russian Helicopters can also offer Kazakhstan the new Ka-226T. In June 2013, the Ka-226T air ambulance version was successfully demonstrated to potential buyers including representatives of the airborne divisions of the Emergencies Ministry, Interior Ministry, Health Ministry, law-enforcement and environmental agencies, as well as commercial operators.
The Ka-226T can operate as an emergency air ambulance. Inside it is functional and comfortable, equipped with modern intensive care apparatus to provide complete medical care while in the air. The company’s specialists drew attention to the helicopter’s outstanding characteristics and its advantages when used in Kazakhstan.
Russian-made helicopters have always been popular in Kazakhstan, where they are used by various state structures and special services. The main operators are the Kazakhstan Air Force and the Ministry of Emergencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Today civilian and military Mi-8/17 series helicopters (including Mi-8MTVs and Mi-171s) operate in the region, as well as civilian Mi-26Ts and Mi-26 military transporters, multi-role Ka-32A11BCs and multi-role Mi-24 attack helicopters.
