Palm Springs Air Museum: Karen & Gen. Ken Miles Invite You To….

Dear friends and fellow members of the Palm Springs Air Museum,

Please join Karen and me for a very special, unique evening on Saturday November 16th, „Apollo 14 – A Space Event”, at The Palm Springs Air Museum. On that evening, we will be presenting Dr. Edgar Mitchell, Lunar Module Commander on the Apollo 14 Moon Mission, and one of the eight people alive who have literally walked on the moon! Dr. Mitchell will be interviewed by Dr. James Hansen, author of „First Man” the only authorized biography of Neil Armstrong.

After the interview with Astronaut Ed Mitchell, the International Opera Institute will present excerpts of the opera, „Apollo 14″(in English)co-composed by David Meckler and Rose Kingsley, Artistic Director of the IOI and International Dramatic Soprano. The opera „Apollo 14” is based on the actual Apollo 14 moon mission and was performed in New York at the New York City Opera to rave reviews.

Neil Armstrong’s son, Rick Armstrong, will also attend this special event.

The „Apollo 14- A Space Event” program is hosted by Desert Arc and the International Opera Institute. Proceeds benefit both organizations. Desert Arc is one of the largest and oldest non-profit agencies in the Coachella Valley serving 600 adults with developmental disabilities. Desert Arc’s mission is to „enhance the quality of life and create opportunities for people with disabilities”.

The International Opera Institute is a charitable and educational performing arts school that increases the awareness, appreciation and understanding of opera as a classical art form to the community. The IOI trains aspiring opera singers and places them on the major opera stage.

Tickets for the „Apollo 14 – A Space Event” are available at $75 general admission for the 7pm interview and performance, or $125 VIP for a pre-event reception with Astronaut Ed Mitchell and preferred seating. Tickets can be purchased online at www.internationaloperainstitute.org.
