JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU) today announces that Savannah, GA will be the 50th nonstop destination for customers in Boston. JetBlue, the largest airline in Boston with up to 121 daily flights, will begin daily nonstop service on Flight #50 between Savannah/Hilton Head and Boston Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014. Special fares from $89 one-way are available for purchase now through Oct. 9, 2013 for travel between Feb. 13 – April 10, 2014 (a).
„Nonstop service opens up Massachusetts to new markets and strengthens our tourism sector,” said Governor Deval Patrick. „I congratulate JetBlue and thank the company for their continued commitment to expanding in Massachusetts.”
„Bostonians work hard, and they need more great places to get away,” said Scott Laurence, JetBlue’s vice president of network planning. „Savannah/Hilton Head is an easy weekend getaway or vacation, and priced right so our customers can get away more often.”
JetBlue has more than double the number of nonstop destinations from Boston than any other airline – places Bostonians want to go, whether for business or pleasure. JetBlue serves 21 of the top 25 destinations.
„JetBlue and Boston continue to grow together,” said Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino. „We congratulate them as they head off non-stop for a fiftieth city from this thriving one.”
„Serving 50 cities from Boston with all-jet operations is a huge milestone for JetBlue and we hope there are more opportunities for customers to experience our award-winning service to new destinations in the future,” said Marty St. George, JetBlue’s senior vice president marketing and commercial strategy. „We appreciate the partnership from Massport, the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for helping us achieve this milestone.”
„Massport congratulates JetBlue on launching its 50th nonstop destination from Boston Logan and for its continued growth at the airport which generates jobs and choices for consumers,” said Massport CEO Thomas P. Glynn. „When JetBlue stated here in 2004, they had 30 employees based in Boston; today they have more than 2,500.”
