Leadership development experts offer free training to veterans

Three leading organizations are seeking applicants for a leadership development program designed to teach veterans how to leverage military experience for leadership in the civilian sector.

Through its corporate volunteer service program Exelis Action Corps, Exelis Inc. has partnered with Korn/Ferry International and the Points of Light Community Blueprint to support the leadership and development of veterans who have recently left, or are leaving, military service to pursue civilian careers.

The „Leadership Development Program for Veterans” is a highly competitive program offered by world-class leadership development experts for veterans transitioning into civilian careers. Selected applicants will receive transformational training from global leadership development professionals from Exelis and Korn/Ferry International starting Jan. 24, 2014. This unique program consists of three interactive days in Washington, D.C., followed by offsite, online, integrated learning components as well as individual coaching taking place over a four-month period.

The organizations are seeking applicants from any rank or military specialty who are currently leaving active or reserve duty, or veterans who transitioned out of the military within the last two years. There are no age limitations or education levels required to be eligible for the program. Participants should be committed to fully engaging in the program, with the goal of honing leadership skills for possible leadership opportunities in the civilian sector.

Interested service members and veterans should apply here http://www.pdinh.com/lib/LDP.html. For more information about the program, send questions to LDP@pointsoflight.org.

This Leadership Development Program for Veterans is the first of several that will occur across the country over the coming years.
