Thales announced that it is opening a Helicopter Training Centre near Stavanger’s airport Sola in 2015.
The Thales Training Centre will answer the increasing demand for local training services for Oil & Gas helicopter operators and will be operated by Thales Norway. The training will be based on Norwegian flight scenarios and will apply the high safety standards required by the oil & gas sector in Norway.
One of the further objectives for the centre will also be to open up new areas of training for the supporting of defence and rescue operations (SAR) in the country.
Commenting on the announcement, Glenn Pedersen, CEO of Thales Norway said “Thales as a leader in safety is in the best position to answer the need for local helicopter training and simulations services in Norway. Norwegian Oil & Gas helicopter pilots operate in one of the world’s most challenging airspaces. Our aim is to provide our clients with the best in class helicopter training services delivered in Norway. Our ambition is to eventually expand this service to defence and, rescue operations.”
